Designing a Model for Sport-Based Entrepreneurship Education among Students with a Focus on Quality Education and Sustainable Economic Development

The present study aimed to design a sport-based entrepreneurship education model among students with an emphasis on quality education and sustainable economic development. This study was conducted using a qualitative research approach. The study sample consisted of thirteen semi-structured interviews with academic and executive experts, and the sampling was conducted using the snowball technique until theoretical saturation was reached. The collected data were analyzed through three stages of coding, including open, axial, and selective coding, resulting in 77 initial codes, 24 subcategories, and 12 main categories. The findings revealed that individual student empowerment through sport, the development of entrepreneurial competencies, and entrepreneurial socialization in the sport context were identified as causal factors. The formation of entrepreneurial attitudes and values, as well as the perception of career opportunities in sport, were identified as contextual factors. School-oriented action, development-oriented technology, and resources and facilities were recognized as intervening factors. Furthermore, school-based educational-sport strategies and active student participation were identified as strategic factors, while entrepreneurial orientation and sustainable economic development were recognized as the consequences of sport-based entrepreneurship education among students, emphasizing quality education and sustainable economic development. Therefore, it can be concluded that integrating sport with purpose-driven entrepreneurship education in schools represents a comprehensive and sustainable educational strategy that not only enhances learning quality and students’ individual skills but also prepares them for effective participation in professional and economic environments. This approach can play a significant role in educating a capable, creative, responsible, and active future generation and is aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals.
